1. How does the process work when I sell to Rocky Mountain Gold Buyer?
You contact us by phone or email to schedule a convenient appointment in your area. We meet at a safe public location or at your home by appointment, test and weigh your items in front of you, explain how we determine value, and then make a no-pressure offer based on current market prices for gold and silver. If you accept, you receive immediate payment and a receipt.
2. Where do we meet if you don't have a storefront?
Because we keep overhead low, we operate by appointment only rather than a walk-in storefront. We typically meet clients at safe, convenient public locations in Central Colorado such as coffee shops, bank lobbies, or hotel meeting spaces, or at your home by appointment, depending on your comfort level.
3. Is there any cost or obligation for an evaluation?
No. Evaluations are free, and there is never any obligation to sell. If you decide not to accept our offer, you simply keep your items.
4. Why can you often pay more without a physical office?
We don't carry the expense of a retail storefront, staff, or mall-level rent, so our overhead is lower. That allows us to put more of each transaction into your offer while still running a sustainable business.
5. How do I know I can trust Rocky Mountain Gold Buyer?
Rocky Mountain Gold Buyer has been serving Central Colorado since 2009, and this is all we do. We test your items in front of you, explain each step, offer transparent pricing with no hidden fees, and never pressure you to sell.
6. How do you pay me?
We provide immediate payment at the time of the transaction, typically by cash (for qualifying amounts), business check, or bank transfer, depending on what works best for you and the size of the sale.
7. Is it safe to meet in public or at my home?
We take safety seriously for both you and us. We prefer well-lit, busy public places or professional meeting spaces, and for home visits we schedule at mutually comfortable times and follow common-sense security practices. You're always welcome to have a family member or friend present.
8. What kinds of items do you buy?
We buy a wide range of precious-metal items, including scrap gold jewelry, broken and unwanted jewelry, silver jewelry and sterling silver flatware, gold and silver coins, gold and silver bullion, dental gold, estate jewelry and inherited items, and select watches and other precious-metal pieces.
9. Do you buy broken or mismatched jewelry?
Yes. Broken, tangled, or mismatched pieces are usually valued for their metal content, so they can still be worth a surprising amount.
10. Do you buy plated or costume jewelry?
We generally do not buy plated or base-metal costume jewelry, because the underlying metal is not valuable enough to justify refining. We're happy to check questionable pieces during your appointment and let you know what's solid and what isn't.
11. Why might your offer be different from a pawn shop or jewelry store?
Pawn shops and retail jewelers often focus on loans or selling finished pieces and carry high overhead. Our entire focus is buying precious metals and turning them quickly, with lower overhead and a simpler business model. That often lets us make stronger offers, especially on gold and silver items.
12. Will I get the same as the "spot price" I see online?
No buyer pays full spot price, because there are costs for testing, refining, and running a business. We base our offers on live market prices, the purity and weight of your items, and our costs.
13. Can I get a quote over the phone or by email?
We can only provide a firm offer after we've tested and weighed your items in person. This protects both you and us and ensures the number we give you is accurate and fair.
14. How do I schedule an appointment?
Call or Text 719-395-GOLD (4653) or email Appointments@RockyMountainGoldBuyer.com to request a time. If you reach voicemail, please leave a message, or send a text or email, we respond as quickly as possible, usually same day but within one business day for sure.
15. How quickly can I get an appointment?
We are based in Chaffee County. Most appointments can be scheduled same day within Chaffee County; other counties within a few days, depending on your location and our current route. If you're in a town where we're planning a buying event, we can often group appointments to make it more convenient.
16. Do you host gold and silver buying events in other towns?
We plan periodic buying events in Central Colorado communities such as Gunnison, Alamosa, and other nearby towns. On our website you'll be able to suggest locations you'd like us to visit and, if you own a business or store, apply to host an event at your location.
17. Is there a minimum or maximum amount you'll buy?
There's no strict minimum, small amounts add up, and we're happy to look at a few pieces or a whole box. For very large transactions, we may schedule a dedicated appointment and confirm payment method in advance.
18. Do you work with estates and inherited collections?
Yes. We regularly help families evaluate estate and inherited gold, silver, jewelry, coins, and flatware. We can meet on-site, sort and separate precious-metal items from costume pieces, and make clear, transparent offers so you can decide what to keep and what to sell.
19. Should I clean or repair items before meeting with you?
No special preparation is required. Cleaning or repairing jewelry usually doesn't change the melt value, and in some cases it's better if we see pieces as-is. Just gather everything you're considering, including broken or old pieces, and we'll handle the rest.
